The east side of the Market Place, perhaps a typical English townscape. Lloyds Bank is an 18th century house re-modelled in 1891. The Congregational Church was built in 1874 on the site of the house where the poet William Cowper died. Further away, the building with the triangular pediment is about 1750; most of the other buildings are 19th century.*
