Researching family history is a rewarding and absorbing pastime, but at some point almost everyone hits a brick wall. If you find yourself going around in circles, unable to locate an important piece of information or just needing a little more detail to bring someone’s story alive, we may be able to help!
Research and Resources
Dereham Heritage Trust has a range of helpful documents including Monumental Inscription booklets to help you find your family graves, research documents covering the two World Wars, and a photographic archive of Dereham. Our Archive also includes Dereham & Fakenham Times newspapers dating back to 1880. Public viewing of the newspapers is limited by their fragile condition and their location, but we try to make access available where possible. If we are unable to allow public access, members of the Trust are happy to look up specific editions on behalf of researchers.
To help with your searches you can buy copies of burial records and memorial inscriptions for Dereham and over 70 surrounding villages on the Parish Chest website. The information in these booklets can save a lot of fruitless and frustrating searching, plus your purchases help support Dereham Heritage Trust as we receive funds generated by the sales.
